Good Fats Vs. Bad Fats

We hope you had a fun and safe summer! Now that labor day is over and the kids are back to school, it's time to get in shape for the holidays! You may be thinking it's time to start exercising more regularly and consuming a low-fat diet. But, be careful! All fats are not created equal! It is crucial to eat enough of the right types of fats for optimal health and weight loss. Healthy fats play a major role in your moods, mental focus, hormones, and weight control.




"Good fats" are monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. The famous omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids  come from these fats.  Good sources of these healthy fats come from olive and canola oil, almonds, walnuts, avocados, flaxseeds, and fatty fish such as salmon and tuna. Although these fats are very beneficial, fat intake should still be less than 30% of your daily caloric intake.

Tips for exercising in the summer heat




Tips for exercising in the summer heat:
  • Time of Day: Try to avoid exercising from 10am-3pm on scorching hot days. Check the weather for heat advisories.
  • Clothing: Wear light colored clothes to help reflect some of the sun's heat.
  • Protect your Skin: Use at least SPF 30 to be safe. Don't let cloudy days fool you!
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink water before, during and after training! Try to drink every 15 minutes during your workout.
  • Listen to your body: STOP if you feel dizzy, faint or nauseous.

Spring Boot Camps In Full Swing!

Intense Boot camp training sessions are designed to increase your overall fitness and mental toughness. Each session is constructed to maximize the reduction of body fat and increase lean muscle & functional strength. Amped boot camps are conducted at Waterfront Park in Mt. Pleasant, under the Cooper River Bridge! Are you Amped?

Boot camps are held Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00pm! Be sure to bring a bottle of water! Try to arrive 10-15 minutes early as class will begin at 6:00pm sharp! We will see you there!
